SML offers a professional certification programme for practitioners of stress management. The negative effects of stress have considerable effect on the work performance and wellbeing on an individual. The loss of productivity due to stress alone runs into hundreds of billions of dollars across the world. SML designed and evolved the credential for stress management professionals so that their professional contribution in enhancing productivity will result into a healthy work, culture, harmonious industrial relations and holistic wellbeing of individuals in society. Stress Management Professional (SMP) is the credential that answers these challenges.

1. SMP is the first credential for the holistic approach in health industry. SMP instills confidence in various areas of stress management. The SMP assures that one has the education, exposure, experience and competence in dealing with stress successfully.
2. The requirements for SMP
3. A degree or post-graduate degree in psychology, medicine, management, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, yoga and naturopathy or equivalent.
4. 4 year post-qualification work experience in the related field
5. Having successfully undergone a 24 credit hour Stress Management Professional Workshop (SMPw) conducted by SML
6. Having obtained at least 60% in an online SMP certification test conducted by SML

It contains 400 questions of multiple choice in two sections A and B
The break  up is given below:

2. SMP Neuro Physiological   (SMPNP) Section B - 200
3. SMP Cognitive Emotional  (SMPCE)  Section B - 200
4. SMP Socio Organisational (SMPSO)  Section B – 200
5. Section A is common for all. Section B is for concerned specialist fields viz.,

9. At least 60% separately in each section A and B is the minimum qualifications limit.
10. SML controls the certification and awards the credential. It is duly recognized by ISMA
11. The validity of the credential is for three years from the date of qualification in the online test
12. To renew the credential after three years, there is no need to take the test again. However the credential holder is required to acquire a minimum of 100 professional development units (PDU) during this three-year period.
13. Professional Development Units (PDU).
14. Acquiring  a PDU indicates that you are involved with at least on of several stress management – related activities. The following is the list that qualifies one for PDUs.
15. Normally, one hour of active involvement qualifies for on PDU. and on full day of conducting  or undergoing  training amounts to 8 PDUs
16. For conduct of repeated training progrmmes, the weight age of PDUs gradually reduces. First time conduct  a training programme, one hour equals to on PDU, 2nd repetition gets you ½ PDU, third repetition gets you 1/3, fourth repetition gets you 1/4 PDU and fifth repetition onwards does not carry any more weight age, for example, if one conducts a one-day training programme,
    
    1st time = 8 hrs. of trg.  i.e.            8 PDUs
    2nd time= 8 x 1/2                          4 PDUs
    3rd time= 8 x 1/3               (2.7)    3 PDUs
    4th time= 8 x 1/4                           2 PDUs
                          Total                      16 PDUs

1. The policy making body for SMP is SML. SML also controls and monitors certification and awards through a SMP certification committee constituted by SML.  For any disputes, the decision of the committee is final and binding.

4. SML conducts the online test. There is no paper-based test.
